God Bless!

We are all aware of the difficulties born by many of the members of our San Diego community as a result of the various wildfires.

The majority of our members were evacuated and/or awaiting evacuation orders; during which time they passed through moments of tension and fear, horrified by the events around them.

The majority of the members of our San Diego community that were evacuated have been able to return to their homes. We thank God that they were spared from this great trial.

I am happy to see that those members outside of the danger zones responded positively, offering their help to those in need. In these difficult moments, support from within our Romanian community is very important.

It is with a heavy heart that I inform you that three families from San Diego County lost their homes.

With brotherly love, I am appealing to all of the Romanians in our community to help the affected families, all donations being well received. Those of you who were spared are invited to come to church to offer prayers of thanksgiving to God for His protection, as well as to offer moral and material support to the families in need.

We look forward to seeing you in church this Sunday, October 28, 2007 The Holy Liturgy will begin at 12.00 p.m. when our church will organize, with the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Nathaniel, a special collection to help the three families who lost their homes.

Those of you who are not in San Diego, or who are unable to come to church, can send donations in the name of the church: “The Elevation of the Holy Cross,” with a note in the memo section, “Special Collection 10-28-2007.”  Donations can be mailed directly to the church at the following address:
